Agree with much of what you said but the front or back of the box can both work, IMO. If you are facing high level velocity, better use the back of the box. Also, if you are facing a good drop ball pitcher you can get in the front and in theory, hit it before it drops too much. Or you can get in the back and force the pitcher to get the ball up more because of where you are in the box(otherwise having many balls called for being low). Same with the rise ball. Get in the front and hit it before it rises or get in the back, see it longer, and lay off this forcing the pitcher to start it out lower. As you well know with your background if batters always stand in the same spot they are easier to pitch to.
